一 什么是MELAB
|

全称Michigan English Language Assessment Battery.由美国密西根大学(ELIUU)主考。主要测试要到美国接收高等教育英语
为非母语学生的英语熟练程度。MELAB考试已有30年的历史。该成绩已被美加众多大学所认可，并作为评定奖学金的依据之一。
MELAB考试由三块组成：
Part1: Composition, a thirty-minute impromptu essay;
Part2: Listening, a tape-recorded, multiple-choice test measuring comprehension of spoken English;
Part3: Grammar, Cloze, Vocabulary, Reading, an objective multiple-choice test containing grammar, cloze reading, and vocabulary problems and reading passages followed by comprehension questions.

To be eligible to take the test, you must not have taken the MELAB within the last six(6)weeks, and you must not have taken the
MELAB more than three(3)times within the last twelve(12) months.
If you test fees will not be paid by a sponsoring agency, you should send the English Language Institute a partial test fee when
you send in your application form(the exact amount is given on the form and in ELI's instructions).
The remainder of the test fee is paid to the examiner at the time of the test.
The ELI will send you the name and address of its MELAB examiner in your locality and will send the examiner authorization to test you.
You should then contact the examiner and set a mutually convenient time for the test administration. The examiner conducts the test, which takes about two and one-half(2 1/2)hours.
The examiner sends all test papers to ELI for scoring andreporting.ELI will send score reports to you and to any institutions you have listed on your identification form.
The score report you receive will show your final MELAB score(this is the mathematical average of your separate scores for part 1,2,and 3), your separate part scores, and your oral rating, if you have taken the optional oral interview.
The entire procedure takes three to six weeks. Official MELAB examiners are located in the cities listed in the MELAB Information Bulletin. New examiners can be added as needed. If there is no examiner in your area, you can tell this to the ELI
Testing Office when you register for the MELAB and ask that someone be found to administer the test to you.
